To Have, Put and Take

Oh weak glue, have and take
Or put— so be wary. How
We wrestle with the slow words
Of placement! Like the guy
Who steps on the rake and hits
Himself in the face. Don’t put
The rake in the yard. Do you even
Have a rake? Are you being a rake?
Take the rake away.

So you see, the ever-seen are soon
Invisible. Okay, honestly,
What’s all the putting and waiting
About? The thunder, don’t go under
The sheets or under the sails
During flashes. I have this day,
you see, taking and putting
all I have into it and knowing
all the while, what a rickety thing
I’ve built and dwelled in.
